Location - Lots 294, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur

Bangsar is a unique location for the final design project - the PAM Learning Hub, located close to the bustling heart of Bangsar yet accessible to the older, residential parcels of Bangsar with its strong-knit communities. It is also home to various commercial, industrial and public facilities, contributing to a quiet but strong creative energy.

Precedent Study 1
Architecture Library Chulalongkorn University

Architect - Department of ARCHITECTURE

Area - 1260 m²

Location - Chulalongkorn University • Khet Pathum Wan, Thailand

The project is about rethinking what today’s libraries can be, particularly if they are located in an architecture school. The library is re-activated, imagined as more than a place for reading books. Rather, it is presented as a ‘creative incubator’ with various programs integrated create a place of knowledge and inspiration.

Surry Hills Library and Community Centre

Architect - FJMT (Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp)

Area - 2497 m²

Location - Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia

The project’s brief was developed in close consultation with the very active local community. The key approach that emerged from these discussions was that the community wanted a facility that everyone could share. Rather than only a library or a community centre or childcare centre, it became clear that it was important to have all of these facilities together in one building, in one place.

Project Involvement - Individual Design Project

Location - Lots 294, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur

Building Typology - Institution | Community Centre

Construere Learning Hub is a medium-scale PAM Learning Hub (an annex building associated to the PAM Centre), which is situated in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. The PAM Learning Hub is to expand the programme of the PAM HQ to embrace more facilities and outreach programmes relevant to the built environment profession, and to sensitively respond to the complex mix of urban communities of the area.
